MS Office Programs... Useful and multi-talented!

I was tasked to journal my day using using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Honestly, this was pretty easy because I use these programs almost daily.

From most experienced to least experienced, I would rank these programs like such:
Word & PowerPoint (Intermediate)
Excel (Average)
Access (Needs Improvement)

Spell check is LIFE for me, especially in Word. The program as a whole it does its intended function and even goes beyond that with the numerous templates you can access and download.
Can't find a template? That's ok, make your own and publish it for others to use!

I love Excel's logic calculation formulas. You can highlight certain cells and tell the program to calculate the values or convert them into a percentage and much more. But the disadvantage with this program is its learning curve. Simple formulas and creating reporting information are picked up fast. But training or classes are needed for more high-level usage (Thank You YouTube University!).

I love that PowerPoint offers pre made templates that you modify. It makes it fast and easy to create quick presentations on the go. A disadvantage I've noticed is not being able to apply an animation to a group of sections. It's very time consuming to have to do it individually and then program each transition one by one.

Access has a great advantage of being able to house data and allow you to sort for certain key indicators. But watchout, because you can easily mess up the database if you don’t update the right section. That was my experience when I was adding information and needed to go back and update something. It didn't update to the other page and I was left to manually update the information.

I'd recommend Excel as the most appropriate software for documenting my day because it allowed me to input information and create an organized summary that you can use to create a visual graph.
We all like pretty pictures, am I right?!?!

Word comes in handy for creating visual content like  newsletters, blogs and printable calendars. Excel is best used for budget reporting and calculating. PowerPoint is useful for creating stunning presentations to match reporting information in Excel and even Access. Lastly, Access is best used to organize and maintain customer information and orders.

I understand the usefulness of each of these applications and their overlapping usage with each other I hope you do too. Now go out there and make some MS Office magic!
